False job offers sent via e-mail using valid company names

Scam artists abound. The Internet is awash with fake e-mails, popularly called “phishing e-mails" regarding job advertisements and job offers. These e-mails use valid company names to pretend they are genuine and exist solely for the purpose of obtaining private information about consumers (e.g. credit card numbers or passwords) and for extracting money from victims.

Fake job offers tend to target overseas individuals, as they ask for money to be sent to them for visa purposes. Our company never requests payment details in association with any job applications or any communication related to them. If you receive an e-mail asking for personal information or financial information or a payment in respect of a job application or if you have concerns about the e-mail's authenticity, then please treat such e-mails with due caution and scepticism.
