What's on in Dublin
Christchurch Cathedral
Everyday 9.30am - 5pm
One of the first stops for visitors to Dublin should be the
Christchurch Cathedral. The oldest building in Dublin, it dates all
the way back to the 11th century. Visitors can tour the church and
its underground crypt during business hours. The entrance fee is €6
for adults, €4 for students and free for children accompanied by
their parents.
Dublin Castle
Everyday (public holidays do not apply)
Dublin Castle is another popular attraction to see. The former
home of British rule in Ireland, a castle has stood on the grounds
since 1204. Most of the current castle dates from the 18th century.
It is available for public tours at a cost of €4.50 for adults,
€3.50 for students and €2 for kids.
Dublin Zoo
Everyday 9.30am - 4pm
The Dublin Zoo is the largest in Ireland and one of the most
celebrated in Europe. Visitors can visit the zoo every day except
for Sundays. The fee is €15, €12.50 for students and €10.50 for
children.
Leopardstown Christmas Racing Festival
St. Stephen's Day
Christmas in Dublin means the obligatory visits to pub and
church, dining on roast turkey, sampling brandy trifle and making
the annual trek to the Leopardstown Christmas Racing Festival. The
event starts on St. Stephen’s Day, December 26th, and runs for four
days. Leopardstown Racecourse itself dates back to 1888 and was
once the private domain of its creator, Captain George Quinn. In
1967 it became part of Horse Racing Ireland.
