Perfect for water lovers

Go seaweed foraging in Cork as part of the Cork Harbour Festival and see what the region has to offer

It’s almost time for the Cork Harbour Festival, a weeklong celebration of Ireland’s unique maritime heritage in one of the prettiest corners of the country. Encompassing the June Bank Holiday Weekend, this year’s festival is set to be a doozy, with plenty to keep you and the family occupied. Here’s our selection of the events you’ll definitely want to check out…

SUPing in the City

If you want to join in the fun, you can take a Stand Up Paddle class in Cork Harbour. You’ll be paddling right on the River Lee, which is a rare opportunity, and kicking off the festival in style, as classes are being held on June 3rd.

There's plenty to see and do in the Cork Harbour Festival, where you can go kayaking in Cork, SUPing and watch water races.

Ocean to City – An Rás Mór

On June 10th, this huge rowing event will take over Cork Harbour, and is the largest of its kind to take place in this location. Over 600 participants take place in this event, coming from all over the world, with plenty of entertainment, food and music on offer for those cheering from the sidelines.

Family Fun Day

Splashing around on the water is always going to appeal to kids, and this fun day in Aghada is set to be a big hit. With water trampolining and kayaking on offer, this will wear out any water bugs!

Titanic Experience

Cobh isn’t too far from Cork city, and the Titanic Experience is a must-see if you’re in the region. This is where the last 123 passengers joined the fated vessel, and this interactive experience tells their story.

Kids’ Model Boat Exhibition

From grand yachts to cute little sailboats, the model boat exhibition is sure to be great fun for the little ones. Held in Cork City Library from now until June 12th, the project encouraged the use of recycled materials in making the model boats.
