Dublin writer Maeve Heslin attended the event, which was held in the decadent surroundings of The Westbury Hotel’s Wilde Restaurant.Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed a sumptuous three-course meal prepared by Wilde’s talented and creative team of chefs. But more on that later! Upon arrival at the lavish Westbury, guests passed through its majestic marble foyer and climbed the grand staircase which leads to Wilde. There, a luxury Champagne reception awaited, and attendees were invited to get comfortable ahead of the main event. Beneath twinkling chandeliers in this most luxurious setting (Wilde overlooks bustling Grafton Street in Dublin’s city-centre), Michelle Curtin – Brown Thomas’ Head of Personal Shopping - hosted a stunning fashion show which ran through the restaurant, showcasing some of the season’s most exciting key trends.

First up was ‘Blossoms & Blooms’; a pretty and feminine series of looks that included – among others – an amazing floral blue full-length Dolce & Gabbana dress which drew many delighted gasps from the crowd! ‘White Wash’ meanwhile showcased some very special dresses from the likes of Erdem, Philosophy and Roland Mouret; ideal treats for that special upcoming occasion.

‘Tribal’ is going to be big this season, Michelle explained, before revealing some eye-catching, printed pieces from Céline, Diane Von Furstenburg – who’s all about bright coloured knits – and the inimitable Alexander McQueen (we want that snakeskin clutch!).

Do metallics make you nervous? If you dare take the plunge, you’ll positively shimmer in Lanvin’s breath-taking red, bow-detail skirt. Or, to really make a statement at your next event, French house Paule Ka has created a breath-taking, one-shoulder gold metallic gown; guaranteed to make heads turn.

The popular ‘Sport’ trend meanwhile sees subtle detail add an edge to classic feminine looks. Step forward Victoria Beckham, whose meshed sleeve toughens up an otherwise dainty fitted blue number. Elsewhere, comfy Stella McCartney trackpants were teamed with Gucci chrome heels; the epitome of sporty chic.

Last, but certainly not least, was ‘Modern Romance’, a series of soft, timeless gowns perfectly suited to an elegant country wedding. Two hightlights; Roberto Cavalli’s uber-feminine, ‘70s-style gown, and Isabel Marant’s ‘peasant chic’ short, frilled number.

Fashion show over, it was time for food - and as usual, Wilde didn’t disappoint. Having served a mouth-watering antipasti starter of Irish artisan cheeses, cured meats, marinated olives and vegetables, mains was a (tough!) choice between either pot-roasted breast of chicken with crisp polenta, garlic purée, roast carrots, mushroom tapenade with truffle jus, or line-caught seabass, served with sauce vierge, saffron mousseline and baby fennel. A selection of desserts followed; consisting of seasonal berry profiterole, apple tarte tatin and white chocolate sorbet. Delicious!

Wine was flowing too, with the attentive and friendly Wilde staff always on hand to make sure guests were tended to. Michelle also made sure to visit each table, chatting about the show and answering any fashion questions attendees had! A fantastic evening.
