Cork's Coolest Al Fresco Restaurant

At The Weir Rooms

The terrace at The Weir Rooms in Cork is the perfect restaurant for outside dining, at the River Lee hotel.

In Ireland, a day filled with sunshine is always appreciated. But as those days are far from guaranteed, it can be quite tricky to find a bar or restaurant where you can sit outside and enjoy the sun.

Enter The Weir Rooms, Cork’s best for al fresco dining. From the terrace, you can bask in the rays and gaze out at the River Lee, while enjoying excellent food and cocktails.

The new menu has just been launched, with some old favourites as well as some new, summery additions.

Enjoy fresh local seafood at The Weir Rooms in Cork, with an al fresco terrace, cocktails and daily specials.

If you’re in the mood for a sharing platter and a chilled glass of Rosé, the English Market Tasting Board is ideal, with artisan products from the market. Or try the Toonsbridge Mozzarella Burrata, made locally and beautifully creamy, served with a tangy pickled nectarine and fig salad and sourdough.

Salads are always a good idea in the sunshine, and the new menu has some brilliant options that are far from a dull plate of lettuce. Try the Atlantic Prawn Cocktail, with lime and avocado crème fraiche, or the Caesar salad with cured bacon and shavings of sharp parmesan.

The new menu from The River Lee's restaurant The Weir Rooms has vegetarian options, fresh seafood and local cuisine from the terrace.

If you fancy a sandwich, there are some great options from the sandwich bar. Like the Smoked Chicken Club Sandwich, with streaky bacon, or the Hot Roast Beef in a pretzel bun.

For a main, the new West Cork Mussels are perfect for summer, with a cold glass of craft beer. The Roast Lamb Rump is served with a minted ratatouille, sweet potato croquette and rosemary jus, and tastes great in the summer.

For something sweet, the Apple and Berry Potted Crumble is delicious, as is the Layered Tiramisu, with affogato ice cream. The Rhubarb and Sherry Trifle is the perfect dish for spring, with strawberry compote and chantilly cream.

There’s also a daily special on the menu, from Prime Angus Fillet Steak

Sandwich on Mondays to Roast Beef with all the trimmings on Sundays. In between, you’ll find exciting new additions to the menu like Pork Belly Bao Bun, Pan Fried Sea Trout and Rigatoni Pasta with Gubbeen chorizo.

The cocktail menu has plenty to offer, with martinis made from local gin, and drinks made for the summer, like an Aperol Spritz and River Lee Kir Royale.
