Cork Running Routes - A Guide Map

Over 22 of the staff at The River Lee Hotel are currently training for the Cork City Marathon so there is a wealth of running-knowledge available. Our general manager Ruairi O’Connor is particularly keen, and has shared his favourite routes… we've even prepared this handy map for you to take with you on your visit!

5km Running Route Around Cork

“It’s a wonderful route from the hotel past the newly renovated Fitzgerald’s park, UCC Mardyke arena and then right onto Wellington Bridge and up the hill to Sunday’s  well.  You will finish the route at North Mall next to Mercy Hospital.  It is not for the fair hearted as there is a good incline from Wellington Bridge all the way up Sunday’s well.  You will know you are on the right route as it is a favourite with a number of the university students! The Views are wonderful of Cork City and Mardyke walk is one of the nicest places to run in Ireland.”

Cork 10k Running Route

“I always enjoy city running so for my 10k I just extend the 5k route and at North Mall adjacent to the Mercy Hospital I run along the quays all the way to The Marina in Cork and back again.  It is Cork city and all of its charm and the historic Marina riverside walkway.”
