The Museums

There’s a museum for almost anyone in Washington DC. There’s the International Spy Museum, the National Air and Space Museum, and the excellent Newseum. The White House

Think of Washington, and no doubt a picture of the White House pops into mind. The president’s residence is synonymous with the city, and a must-see for anyone in the capital. If you’re pushed for time, you can view the exterior of the house from the street, but you can also organise a tour of the interior. If you’re a resident of the US, this means a request to your Member of Congress, and if you’re an international guest, this can be arranged through your embassy.

Monuments

They’re as iconic as the White House, and make for an illuminating stroll, particularly if you do as Dayonna Welch from the Dupont Circle hotel recommends…

“When you get to the monuments, walk through them all and finish at Title Basin. This area is perfect during Cherry Blossom Season because everything is pink and white and you feel like ‘Alice in Wonderland’.

“You should definitely try to see the monuments at night, too. Everything looks so different at night and it’s beautiful.”

Dupont Circle

Take some time to soak in Dupont Circle, one of Washington’s liveliest neighbourhoods. You’ll find eclectic shops, bistros and groups of locals convening to enjoy the day. The Music
