What not to miss at the Dublin Fashion Festival
Over the last few years, Dublin has become an incredibly stylish destination.
There are well-respected designers working in the city, excellent boutiques and shops as well as the big players like Brown Thomas. And now, the city has its very own annual fashion event – Dublin Fashion Festival. The event is launching today, and we have a round up of the events you don’t want to miss.
This is an ideal opportunity to see some of Ireland’s most exciting new designers. Shimmering Beginnings showcases the collections of fashion graduates from NCAD and Griffith College. Self-reflection is the theme running through the exhibition, and shards of glass and mirrors reflect the work of the designers.
When: 7th – 12th September, 11am – 5pm,
Where: Powerscourt Centre
You won’t just find events taking place in stores – head to Stephen’s Green on Friday and you can catch a fashion show taking place at the Luas stop. The GLAMTRAM will be transformed into a glamour station where you can enjoy a free makeover, delicious canapés and mocktails.
When: 11th September, 1pm
Where: St Stephen’s Green Luas stop
On Street Fashion Shows
It’s often a fashion show in its own right, but Grafton Street will play host to the catwalks from Thursday to Saturday. Fashion shows are held by various hosts throughout the day, so it’s worth checking out the schedule online.
When: From 12.45pm – 5pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Where: Grafton Street
Bring It All Back Home
It’s not all catwalks and launches. Fashion Photographer Emily Quinn has an exhibition of her work at The Meeting House. Her photographs come from all across Ireland, capturing the gorgeous scenery and landscapes that inspire the designers living on our shores. Emily Quinn was named the Fashion Photographer of the Year at Kerry Fashion Week.
When: 8th – 14th September
Where: The Meeting House
