Jungle fever arrives at Dalloway Terrace
The Bloomsbury’s Dalloway Terrace is transformed into a tropical jungle – just in time for Spring
Each season, The Bloomsbury hotel’s Dalloway Terrace is adorned with seasonal décor to create an immersive dining experience in the heart of London. Following the frosty winter wonderland theme, Spring 2019 will allow guests to indulge in the magic of Sri Lanka, with a new botanical design and menu incorporating a taste of the East.
With Dalloway Terrace named in honour of Virginia Woolf’s novel ‘Mrs Dalloway’, the venue took inspiration from her husband, fellow Bloomsbury Set member Leonard Woolf’s novel ‘The Village In The Jungle,’ to transform the space into an Eastern paradise. The terrace has been decorated with silk foliage stems, giant banana plant leaves, luscious palms and vibrant orchids to create a wild jungle landscape, available to enjoy throughout the season.
A selection of botanical cocktails inspired by the flavours of Sri Lanka have been created to add to the experience, including the Ceylon Punch, made with mango-infused Ceylon Arrack, Ceylon Black Tea, citrus shrub and coconut water, and the fiery Jungle Old Fashioned, created with Ron de Jeremy Spiced Rum, ginger, falernum and orange bitters.
The Dalloway Terrace afternoon tea has also had a makeover too, with fruity desserts including mango and coriander tart with pink peppercorn meringue and lychee and coconut cake bringing a Sri Lankan twist to the delicious traditional sandwiches and scones.
As the temperature rises, the retractable roof can be opened, creating an enchanting al fresco terrace, just a two-minute walk from Tottenham Court Road.
Dalloway Terrace is open from 8am daily, serving breakfast, weekend brunch, afternoon tea and an all-day menu until 10.30pm each evening.
