CAFE & BAR DUPONT

In an area with some of the very best restaurants and bars DC has to offer, Café & Bar Dupont more than hold their own. The fashionable, minimalist interior showcases, along with the legendary weekend brunch, a menu of unique French-influenced dishes with a modern twist. Cooked with rigorously sourced, organic produce from our neighbouring farmers’ market, our dishes take French influences in the city’s history and channel them into true contemporary classics. The Dupont Bar buzzes after dark as guests and locals rub shoulders with Washington’s hip crowd, all in pursuit of a perfectly mixed cocktail or a fine vintage.

MEET THE CHEF

Growing up in his grandmother’s hotel in the Swiss Alps, Executive Chef, David Fritsche, was around fine food from his earliest years. Simpler fare was the order of the day at home, with his mother’s cooking built around her daily harvest from their extensive fruit and vegetable garden. At just 15, David followed his star to an apprenticeship at Grand Hotel Quellenhof in Bad Ragaz.  Starting out in classical French cuisine, he then spent several years in Dubai, giving him a passion for the nuances of Arabic cuisine. Cork came next, where David’s way with the best of Irish produce won plaudits, awards and an offer to take the helm at Essex House in New York City. Three years later we lured him down to DC, to The Dupont Circle Hotel, where his contemporary take on French classics are made with expertly sourced, fresh, seasonal ingredients, every day. David Fritsche’s passion for food is evident in every bite. His motto? Live life to cook.
