Weekend Breaks in Cork

Weekend Curators: Siobhán McSweeney’s Theatrical Cork
Siobhán McSweeney is a BAFTA-winning actress, presenter and native of Aherla, County Cork, best known for her breakout role in Derry Girls.
Although I spend a lot of time ‘showing off’ for work in London, I’m child of Aherla at heart. I’ve been asked by the fabulous people at The River Lee to curate my perfect weekend in the city I hold dear. And sure look, who could resist being Queen of Cork for 48 hours?
Now, I wouldn’t be one for tight itineraries or sensible walking tours. I like my weekends full of drama (on stage, not in real life), great food, plenty of people-watching, and possibly a facial.
When curating my ideal weekend with The River Lee, I wanted to ensure that they showcased the best of Cork’s creativity but also left room for improvisation. So, you can stay for 2 nights and enjoy a fancy theatre tour and dinner, while following along with my 48 Hours in Cork guide. Or stay for a night and dabble in some of my suggestions – the choice is yours!
